# eara is offline or not responding

> What to do when commands fail with "This application did not respond".

If eara shows as offline in your server, or your commands fail with
**"This application did not respond"**, the bot has most likely stopped or is
restarting. There's nothing to fix on your end, and your server settings are fine.

## Check whether eara is online

Run `/ping`.

- **If it responds**, eara is online and the problem is probably a permission
  setting. See
  [Some members can't use eara's commands](/help-center/commands-not-available).
- **If it doesn't respond**, eara is down. Follow the steps below.

## What to do

1. **Check for announcements.** The developers post in the status channels of our
   [Discord server](/support) when something is broken.
2. **Check existing reports.** Someone may have already reported the same problem
   in the bug report channel.
3. **Report it if nobody has.** Include the command you used and what happened.
   If any command still works, add the output of `/debug` — it
   helps us a lot.
4. **Wait it out.** Once eara is back online, your commands will work again
   without any changes to your server.
