# Scrobbling to Last.fm

Last.fm keeps a history of the music you listen to, and each entry in it is
called a **scrobble**.

Once you connect your account, eara scrobbles the songs you listen to while
you're in the voice channel with it, no matter who queued them.

A song is scrobbled after it has played for half its length or 4 minutes,
whichever comes first. Songs shorter than 30 seconds aren't scrobbled.

The connection is tied to **your Discord account**, not a server, so it works in
every server you listen in. It's free.

## Connect your account

`/last-fm connect` [or use the dashboard](https://eara.io/dashboard/settings)

eara replies with a private button. Click it to open Last.fm and authorize the
connection.

> Only you can see the button, and it expires after **10 minutes**. Never share
> it or post it in a channel: someone else could use it to link their Last.fm
> account to your Discord account. If it stops working, run the command again.

## Check your connection

`/last-fm status`

Shows which Last.fm account is connected and whether scrobbling is on or paused.

## Pause scrobbling

`/last-fm scrobbling value:false` [or use the dashboard](https://eara.io/dashboard/settings)

Stops scrobbling without disconnecting your account. Use `value:true` to resume.

Running the command without a value toggles scrobbling. To check whether it's on,
run `/last-fm status`.

## Disconnect your account

`/last-fm disconnect` [or use the dashboard](https://eara.io/dashboard/settings)

Removes the connection and stops scrobbling. You can reconnect any time with
`/last-fm connect`.
